Our Story

Sohbar Sirdarship is located in the southern most part of Meghalaya plateau, situated on the lowest southern slopes of East Khasi Hills District, is connected by roads (Shillong-Shella) which is about 70 kms distance from Shillong city and 13 kms from Sohra (Cherrapunjee), bordering the Sylhet plain of Bangladesh. The area is drained by Umsohryngkew River with its tributaries flowing down south to Bangladesh. The area in the State of Meghalaya in general and Sohbar Sirdarship including Sohra (Cherrapujee) in particular is abundantly blessed with picturesque landscape with deep ravines, breathtaking valleys and beautiful hills, cascading waterfalls, serene rivers, springs etc, which virtually makes our state a tourist paradise. Besides the natural treasures bestowed by the Almighty, much of its tourism potential is yet to be exploited in the state.
